"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir,

Please permit me to introduce myself. I am Barrister Paul Emeka, a solicitor
at law and a personal attorney to Mr. Peter Kelly.

The Board of Directors of The International Trust Bank met on the 20th of
JANUARY 2005 over a matter that requires your co-operation and assistance.
Mr. Peter Kelly, a national of your country and a petroleum/gas
consultant/contractor lost his life alongside his wife and only child on the
27th of January 2002 while he was traveling. Details of this incidence can

Before his death Mr. Peter Kelly’s Company had current, savings and fixed
accounts with The International Trust Bank. At the time of his death, he had
US$10Million in these accounts. When I was notified of his death, I made
efforts to contact his immediate next of kin through your embassy in
Victoria Island, Lagos.

Your embassy later wrote to me informing me that all attempts on their part
to contact any of his relatives was not successful. It was at this point I
get back to the Board of Directors of The International Trust Bank; they
told me that they would place Mr. Peter Kelly funds in a suspense account
pending when I will produce his relatives to claim the money. It was as a
result of these directives from the Board of Directors of the Bank to me and
after careful considerations made me to contact you for assistance to
receive this money as the next of kin to Mr. Peter Kelly.

What I want to do is to present you or your company as the next of kin to
Mr. Peter Kelly which will entitle you to receive this money on his behalf.
It will not be difficult to establish the relationship, you could be any of
his relative, you shall be provided with all information relating to the
Late Mr. Peter Kelly, as contained in my file and As soon as you confirm
your willingness to assist, An Application will have to be filed to the Bank
for processing of the release of the Funds into your nominated Bank Account
any where in the world.

You do not have to worry about this proposal, as the Board of International
Trust Bank is 100% behind this proposal. When we have successfully remitted
the fund in your account, you shall assist me to invest my share into any
profitable business in your country for 2 years.

Your interest will be 40% of the total sum after the successful completion
of this transaction.
