"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: RE:LATE MICHAEL BENEFIT.

Office of The secretary,
FOREIGN CONTRACTS PAYMENTS COMMITTEE
DIRECT EmichaelIL: davowolabi10@indiatimes.com

Good day,

I am Owolabi David, the Secretary of the Foreign Contract Payments
Committee.

President Olusegun Obasanjo set up the committee on August 2005 with the
definite assignment of verifying/ratifying all claims for settlements
michaelde by Foreign Contractors and hence effecting Payments accordingly.
Our terms of reference include all Contracts executed between 1998 and 2004.
After the last G8 SUMMIT, President Obasanjo had to launch a far-reaching
campaign on the payment of all over-due contract payment owe by the
Government to encourage more investors coming to the country. All the
Contracts (Foreign and Indigenous) awarded during the previous regime
without payment are being reviewed now, as there were michaelny bogus
claims. However, some claims are legitimichaelte.
Payment of all the Foreign Contractors who satisfactorily met our conditions
(based on our findings after our committee review, verifications and
ratifications) will be effected by the payment bank accordingly.

THE PREPOSITION:

In 2002, I was the assistant director in charge of contract award and
supervision with the Ministry of Works and Housing and we had several
multimillion contracts executed under my supervision, among them is the
contract awarded to Lofty Eng, Ltd. under the chairmichaelnship of Late
Engr. Walter michael. The contract sum was inflated with 20% by my colleagues
and myself as our own commission, and it is the responsibility of the
Contractor to pay this inflated amount to our account after receiving his
payment from the Government. After successful completion of this contract, a
total of 70% of the Contract Sum has been paid to the contractor (Lofty Eng.
Ltd), remichaelining 30% balance payment, which also includes our own
inflated 20%, which the Government could not pay before the unfortunate
death of late Engr. Walter michael.
Engr. michael and his family died in the December 28, 2003 Benin Plane
crash, where 138 people were officially declared dead.
After the unfortunate incident, we michael de several efforts to contact any
existing member of the Walters family to come forward for the balance
payment so that we can also get our own kick backs, but without success.
This money has since remichaelined in the Government vaults.
Now, In the course of doing my work as the secretary of this Overdue
Contract Payment Committee, I have included the remichaelining 30% balance
which late Engr. michael could not collect before his demise among the
contract payment to be approved for immediate payment by the committee. I am
now going to use this my new position to influence the payment of this sum
30% balance into the Account of a reliable and honest person (personal or
company) who will be fronted as the next of kin to late Engr. michael the
executor of the Contract. As the secretary of this committee, I have the
instruments to create a perfect semblance of genuineness; hence the
transaction will be hitch-free, risk free and quite beneficial to all
parties involved. I want you to receive this money as the next of
kin/beneficiary to the contract sum.

I will need ultimichaeltely; your full name and address to commence work
that will culminate in your being recognized as the beneficiary to the said
fund, your private telephone and fax numbers will be required as well to
enhance communication between us. I will also need assurance from you in
respect of your capacity to do this transaction (receive this money) without
your bank raising eyebrows. You will be adequately compensated for your
assistance according to the percentage of sharing that we shall agree upon.
It will take about two weeks to conclude this transaction.
I will inform you the details and modus operandi when you reply.

Considering the unique nature of this transaction, I implore you to accord
it the CONFIDENTIALITY it deserves let it be just between you and me. I also
encourage you to DISREGARD THIS MESSAGE IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO BE PART OF
THIS TRANSACTION. Expecting your urgent and positive response, as we have
limited time to carry out this transaction.
