"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From A Born Again Christian.

Goodday Beloved Christian,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Let me introduce myself properly, I am Rtd. Col. Mathew Akoko but now
serving jail terms in the Ikoyi prison Lagos Nigeria. It was in prison that
I received Christ as my lord and personal Saviour. Though I have been a
Christian from birth, but not a Born Again. But to God be the glory today, I
am now a born again Christian. Hallelujah!!!

During the time of my service, I was the former military administrator of an
oil rich state in my country for three years, and have access to public
funds as the State’s herdsman. At my time in office as a Military
Administrator, I embezzled $4,300,000.00 from a budgeted sum for road
construction in one of the locality of the state. I packaged the funds in a
trunk box, and deposited it with a Security House. It was due this incidence
that lead to my arrest and jail terms. I have made up my mind that I will
never let the government or any body know the where about of this fund,
except my wife, but rather use it for my personal use once I am out of this
place, as I have one more year to be free. Though I have already asked for
forgiveness from God, and I know I have been forgiven.

During one of our Prison Fellowship, the Lord visited me and revealed to me
to invest the funds in His kingdom work through you for you to use the funds
for Christian related organizations around you. Then I decided to contact
you through the aid of one of the prison guards (Warder) who has been very
nice to my family and ever since I have been in the prison, who always come
to the prison with his personal laptop computer.

Therefore, I want you to come back to me with a mind to accomplish this
message that has been assigned to me.

Lastly I want you to kindly brief me on how you intend to invest the fund on
the things that will exalt the name of God as instructed by Him. As soon as
I hear from you, I will give you all the information on how you are going to
receive the fund with the aid of my lovely wife and the prison guard who has
been helping me all this while.

Expecting to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Brother Mathew Akoko.
