"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is my sincere gratitude to acquaint you of this proposal for the purpose of investment in your country. I am Capt. Edward Fatou, I got to know of you through the courtesy of international business bureau here in Lome-Togo Republic.

Sequence to my zeal towards foreign investment and also security for my life and my possession,I therefore write to give you a Breakdown of this proposal.

I was the personal confidant to the former military leader and the president of Cote d'Ivoire (LATE GEN.ROBERT GUEI) who was killed by the rebels on the 19th Sept,2002 alongside with his wife during a coup attempt.

As a result of the political uprising in Ivory Coast,some of his closest aids was forced to run into other countries on exile, while I decided to move to Lome-Togo Republic with my family with two trunk boxes that containing the total sum of US$23,000,000.00 (Twenty three Million US Dollars) which has been moved to a prime bank in Europe with the help of a Security Finance Firm here in Lome-Togo after declearing and signing the two boxes as family valuable treasure that belongs to my foreign business partner oversea for security purpose and easy claim of these fund in Europe through any foreign partner of my choice. Due to the situation of things here in Africa,it has become quite impossible for me to invest these money within.

The said prime bank in Europe has issued me a notice to provide the rightful owner/beneficiary of these trunk boxes through their Security Finance Company here in Lome-Togo. I hereby seek your consent to present you as the beneficiary of these trunk boxes to enable us put claim over this fund so that the bank over there in Europe can process these money directly to your nominated bank account which you can provide to secured these fund in your country pending my arrival for investment purposes which is my motive for contacting you to be able to actualize this project for our mutual benefit.

Upon smooth conclusion of this transaction, you will be entitled to 40% of the total sum as gratification, while 60% will be for me. All I require from you is your honest co-operation to enable us see this transaction through.
