"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: FROM ELVIS

Dear Harold,
Thanks for the mail. As you can bear with me, I have not asked you
for any cent to do what I know I will benefit from. I have spent not less
than 8000 dollars on this project.
I sworn an affidavit of claim/letter of administration which cost me 1500
dollars, I paid 5500 dollars to Barclays bank for them to transfer the money
to United States for easy payment. And I also paid for the sending of the
file to United States through courier services to the payment office to make
things to be very easy for both of us.
I doubt if there is anything like scam in the United States. They said you
should pay the money to United Nations counsels which is the anti terrorist
office or people that are in charge of the anti terrorist certificate. The
anti terrorist certificate is to clear that the money is not for the use in
sponsoring the terrorist and you and me know that American are been very
careful this time.
I don’t have any money; I would have paid for the certificate because
it will be of help for me to do business in every part of the world. I have
spent a lot in this project and I beg you in the name of the lord not to let
me down. What we are doing is legitimate and noting like scam. If I loss
this, I will kill my self because I borrowed money to make sure you receive
this money.
If I tell you that I know of this, I am a big layer. I know what it takes to
make money but doesn’t regret in anything you will gain from, I
believe I have made everything clear.
Try and pay the money, I promise you will get the money back and you will
thank me for involving you in this huge blessing
Remain blessed
Elvis
