"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Partner,
GET BACK TO ME.
No doubt, I know you will be surprised to receive this proposal, but please consider this as a request from a family in dire need of assistance. Actually I got your contact address from the Internet here in South Africa when I was making an intensive research for my investment in your country then I decided to contact you directly.
First, I must introduce my self. I am MR. MIKE MABONA the son of BRIGADIER DAGOGO MABONA from the Diamond rich district of Sierra Leone. During the war between our forces led by the ex-Head of State, Major Johnny Paul Koroma and the West African Allied Forces (ECOMOG) my country relied heavily on the foreign earning generated from Diamond trade. This money was personally kept by the then president, Major Johnny Paul Koroma since our banking system had collapsed during the war.
However, as the war progressed, it became apparent that we were going to lose the war to the superior and better armed West African Allied Forces (ECOMOG).At this point, the key officers of the ministration started making frantic efforts on how to leave Sierra Leone safely, hereby sharing the proceeds/money from this Diamond trade.
My father was one of the key officers who succeeded in getting the sum of US$50M (FIFTY MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS). He made arrangement and transferred the money through diplomatic means to South Africa where we deposited the fund with a private Security Company. Unfortunately, my father died of heart attack after a few months of exile in South Africa and automatically I became in possession of the said amount as the only surviving son.
>From the above, you will understand that the lives and future of my family depend on this fund as such I will be grateful if you can assist us .We are now living in South African as political asylum seekers and the financial laws and regulations of South Africa do not permit us certain financial rights. In view of this, I cannot invest this fund in South Africa hence my asking you to assist me to transfer it out of South Africa for investment purposes in your country.
For your efforts, we are prepared to offer you 25% of the total sum while 10% will be set aside for expenses incurred during the course of this transaction and the remaining 65% for the family's investment abroad. Please note that this transaction is risk-free and the major thing I ask of you is to assure me the safety of the money when transferred to your account pending my arrival to your country for investment. Further information and arrangement will commence as soon as trust, confidence and good relationship is established. I shall be most grateful if you maintain the confidentiality of this matter.
Please confirm your interest to assist via the telephone/fax number or email address above for more details. Expecting your urgent response.

Best regards,
MIKE MABONA
