"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Foreign Contractor’s/Inheritance Payment was deliberated and agreed that
immediate payment should commencen, we are most pleased to inform you that
this bank has through the Ministry of Justice obtained a Court Order/Power
of Attorney to pay all foreign contractors owed by the Federal Government of
Nigeria (FGN) from the Nigerian Oil Sales Account which the Government of
Nigeria operates with the STANDARD TRUST BANK PLC.

Your Outstanding Contract Payment with the Federal Government of Nigeria
will now be paid through our bank STANDARD TRUST BANK PLC under the terms
of the DEBT BUY-BACK AGREEMENT (DBA), we are to pay your company immediately
without any further delays while the Government will refund our bank through
Federal Government Treasury bill in favour of our bank maturing in
2005/2006.

Subsequently, Federal Republic of Nigeria (FGN) Order Number P24k was issued
to this bank directing us to remit your funds immediately, please reconfirm
your Contract Particulars / Inheritance Code Number, your Authentic Banking
Information, Private Telephone/Fax Number and copies of your International
Passport/Drivers License for identification process.

Make absolute sure that you forward to this office immediately the above
listed particulars to avoid any sort of mis-transfer of funds as soon as
you receive this fax so that we will programme into our system and effect
the immediate release of your funds accordingly.
