"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: This is very important.

Hi, this is from me, Janet Dovlo. I am 18 years girl and only child of Commander K.T.Dovlo,the former Director General, Ghana Port and Harbours Authority and Ex-President of Port
Management Association for West and Central Africa( P.M.A.W.C.A ).

The new Government of my country, Ghana, accused my father of mismanagement of funds while in office. This is just eight months my father died and every property is seized from my
family and I am sufferring untold hardship. But, luckly, I still have all documents to claim my father's valuable he secretly deposited in a Security Company in the Republic of Togo. Only me and my dead father know that a total sum of Six Million and Two Hundred Thousand U.S. Dollars ( U.S.$ 6.2 million ) in cash was included with other valuables inside a Safe Trunk-box which we purposely declared as only containing family treasures in the Security Company in Togo.

Now, because of the problem and the hardship I am sufferring, I'm making plan to bring all the money over to your country to invest in a viable business and also continue my schooling. So please I want you to help me to get the Trunk-box containing this money and the treasures out from the Security Company so that you will receive it through a Diplomatic Courier Service via your contact address there in your country. I've decided to reward you adequately with 25% of this money for your help to me when I come to your country to meet with you. Give me your telephone number so I will easily call you for discussion anytime.

I am waiting for your good reply.

Bye and thank you.

Janet.
