"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear Beloved,

I am writing you this mail from my sick bed and i am praying that you act
immediately in order to save a soul. I might not survive to see this dream
come true but God Almighty will Bless you as you save my only son.

lt's due to my family problem and our custom that made me to seek for your
assistance. our tradition and culture is that when a man dies, his propertiesand
money will be inherited by his brothers and sisters and his brothers an
sisters are expected to take care of his children. But in most cases the
brothers and sister will not give the children anything and will
let the children to suffer.

This is why my late HUSBAND deposited some amount of money in Abidjan, Republic
of Cote D'ivoire (IVORY COAST) totaling Twenty-Six Million United States
Dollars with my only son DANIEL as the next of kin and that the money will
be transfered to a foreign business partner who will invest the money for
HIM until he reached a certain age. This is why i am contacting you so that
you will invest this money for my son and take care of him since he is only
18 years and i am sick and might not survive.

I am MRS BREBAH ASSI, wife of late Mr DOUGLAS ASSI. My husband was the chief
protocol officer to Charles Taylor, former Liberian President until he was
tortured to death by the president's men. We are now in Abidjan, cote D'ivoire
where i am hospitalised.

I am prepared to negotiate with you regarding your percentage commission
for assisting us. Please answer with your telephone and fax numbers. Could
you please call us immediately you receive this mail. our phone number is
