"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

I write this august letter in confidence, believing that it will reach
you
in high spirit and I believe you will maintain the level of confidence
and
trust it requires. Though, I know that this proposal may make you
apprehensive and worried, but I assure you that you have nothing to
worry
about because this transaction is 100% risk free,safe and secured and
all
will be well at the end.Before proceeding, I wish to introduce myself.
I
am Julia may, a solicitor at law.

The Proposal:
I am the personal attorney to a national of your country, Late Mr.
Robert
Scotbay, an independent oil magnate in my country hereinafter, shall
be
referred to as my client who died in a car crash with his immediate
family
on the 12th of October,2000. When he was alive, he operated an account
which had a closing balance of US$10,500,000.00 (Ten Million,Five
Hundred
United State Dollars) as at the end of November 2000. Valueable efforts
have been made to get in touch with any of late Robert's relation as
beneficiary to his estates without success.

My purpose of contacting you is to assist in repatriating the deposited
fund of US$10,500,000.00 (Ten million five hundred thousand united
states
dollars) that was lodged in by my late client in a financial
institution
when he was alive. The repatriation is as a result of a fourteen day
notice (ultimatum) that has been issued to me by the institution
requesting me to present to them a beneficiary to my late client
(Either a
close or distant relative) so that the fund would be repatriated to
him/her. Failure to do that after the expiration of the ultimatum will
result in forfeiting the funds into the governments account because of
my
inability to locate a beneficiary.

In other to avert this negative development, I now seek your consent to
present you as the beneficiary to the estate of my late client so that
the
funds $10,500,000.00 will be released and paid to you as the
beneficiary
to my late client. I have in possession necessary documents to back up
our
claim, moreso, the security company knowing me as the attorney to my
late
client is ready to accept anybody i present as the beneficiary to my
late
client under my recommendation.

I am assuring you that this transaction is 100% risk free. Once the
fund
has been released and paid to you, you will be entitled to 50% while
50%
will be for me. You will be entitled to substantial part from my
percentage, in trust for investment. Furthermore, what I require from
you
is your honest cooperation and confidentiality to enable us see this
transactions through. I guarantee that this will be executed under
legitimate arrangement that will protect
you and I from any breach of the law.

As soon as I receive your acceptance in principle, I will furnish you
with
the necessary documents and modalities for commencement. Finally, I am
relying in my confidence in you, having opened up to you, if however
you
are not interested,please destroy this information.
