"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: Awaiting your quick response to this matter

Hello

Most competent people are choosen for competent jobs and assignments,
and with that due respect have we also choosen to select you and
contact you on this very confidential matter which we pray by the special
Grace of God,you will not let us down.

I am Dr. Tanor Dieng, the Director of Bill and Exchange at the Foreign
Remittance Department in the bank where I work here in Senegal. On January
20, 2000, a German property magnate made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for
twelve calendar months, valued at US$13,500,000.00 (Thirteen Million, Five
hundred Thousand US Dollars only) in my branch. Upon maturity, I sent a
routine notification to his forwarding address but got no reply. After a
month, we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his contract
employers, the Senegalese National Petroleum Corporation that Andreas
Schranner, 64yrs along with his wife Maria, 62, their daughter Andrea Eich,
38, her husband Christian, 57, and their children Katharina,
eight, and Maximilian, 10, all perished in the Concorde aircraft jet that
crashed on 25 July 2000. Please refer to the below link for more info:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/859479.stm.

On further investigation, I found out that he died without making a
"WILL", and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless. I therefore
made further investigation and discovered that Mr. Andreas Schranner did not
declare any kin or relations in all his official documents, including his
Bank Deposit paper work in my Bank. This sum of US$13,500,000.00 only is
still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over with the
principal sum at the end of each year. No one will ever come forward to
claim it.
According to Senegalese Law, at the expiration of 6 (six) years, the
money will revert to the ownership of the Senegalese Government if nobody
applies to claim the fund.

Consequently, my proposal to you is that I will like you as a Foreigner to
stand in as the next of kin to Mr. Andreas Schranner so that the fruits of
this old man's labour will not get into the hands of some corrupt government
officials. This is simple, I will like you to provide immediately your full
names and address so that an Attorney will prepare the necessary documents
and affidavits, which will put you in place as the next of kin. We shall
employ the service of an Attorney, for drafting and notarization of the
"WILL" and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of
probate/administration in your favour for the transfer. A Bank Account in
any part of the world which you will provide will then facilitate the
transfer of this money to you as the beneficiary/next of kin. Directives
and needed information will be relayed to you as soon as you indicate your
interest and willingness to assist us and
also benefit from this great business opportunity. We could have done this
deal on our own, but because of our position in this country operating a
local account would eventually raise an eye brow on my side during the time
of transfer because I work in this bank. This is the actual reason why it
will require a foreigner as second party that will forward claims as the
next of kin to the Bank. We have agreed that 30 % of this money will
be for you as our foreign partner, 70% would be for me and my
colleague. Thereafter, I and my colleague will visit your country for
disbursement according to the percentages indicated.

I suggest you get back to me as soon as possible, stating your wish in this
deal.

Thanks and best regards.

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Tanor Dieng
