"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: Dear Sir / Madam

FROM: DR.OWO HARRISON,

ROYAL TRUST BANK PLC,

Dear Sir / Madam

This letter may come to you as a surprise due to the fact that we have not
met or seen before. The message could be strange but real.Pleae accept my
sincere apologies in bringing this message of goodwill to you.I have to say
that I have no intention of causing you any embarassment.

I sincerely write to seek your co-operation and trust to enable us carry out
an urgent business Opportunity in my department. I work with the ROYAL TRUST
BANK PLC,NIGERIA currently I am in charge of bills and exchange at the
foreign remittance department of my bank. I was the account officer to one
Mr. & Mrs. RICHARDSON who worked with Chevron Oil company ,Who died along
with his wife in the December 25th, 2003 Air Crash in Benin Republic.

He left in his domiciliary account the total sum of $15.5 million (Fifteen
million five hundred thousand USA Dollars). Since the management got the
information of his death we have been expecting any of his relation or his
next of kin to come up and claim his money. Unfortunately from the day of
his death till the time of this letter none of his relation or friends has
come up for the claim.

On further investigation,I found out that he died without making a WILL and
all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless.I therefore made further
investigations and discovered that Mr.RICHARDSON did not declear any kin or
relations in all his official documents including his bank deposite
paperwork in my bank. This sum of us$15,500,000,00 is still lodged in my
bank.No one will ever come forward to claim it.According to Nigeria
Government,at the expiration of 2(two)years six month, the money will revert
to the ownership of the Nigeria Government if nobody applies to claim the
fund as the deceased kinship.Consequently,my proposal is that i will like
you as a foreigner to stand in as the next of kin to Mr.RICHARDSON so that
the fruits of this man´s labour will not get into the hands of some corrupt
Goverment officials.

The need for a foreigner as next of kin in this project is occasioned by the
fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Blenniod will not perfectly fit
in as his next of kin or heir, thereafter I will visit your country for
disbursement according to the percentages indicated. To enable the immediate
transfer of the fund into your nominated account, you would have to fill the
bank application form for such claim as the next of kin to the deceased.

On receipt of your mail indicating your interest, I will send to you a copy
of the application form.Send your direct Fax and telephone numbers for
effective communication that this transaction needs.

Upon your responce,I shall then provide you with more details that will help
you understand the transaction. Please observe utmost confidentiality and
rest assured that this transaction would be most profitable for both of us
because I shall require your assistance to invest my share in your
country.Awaiting your urgent reply via my email address.
