"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

FROM THE DIRECTOR,LEGAL DEPARTMENT,
STATE BANK PLC.
90 MARINA STREET,LAGOS.
PRIVATE EMAIL: ettebassey@compaqnet.fr

Dear,

My name is Barrister Ette Bassey,Director,Legal Department,State Bank Plc.
We are conducting a standard process investigation/recommendation on behalf
of State Bank Plc. This investigation involves a foreign customer of the
bank who died in February,2003.This Private Banking customer died without
nominating any successor in title over the investments made in the bank
amounting to over US$7 Million.

You are therefore being contacted to be legally nominated as next of kin
(inheritor) to this customer after all enquiries and investigation has
yielded results showing that there is no next of kin.

There is absolutely no risk involved as this fund will be released to you
following due process of law.You will take part of the proceed of this fund
and keep the balance in trust for me for further investment. I do not want
the bank to seize this fund as unclaimed deposit in line with our banking
policy, hence my decision to take this step.

I want you to confirm your willingness to accept this inheritance if you are
legally and legitimately approved to stand as inheritor to the deceased's
bank account with State Bank Plc.
Endeavour to include your full names, contact address, telephone number, age
and occupation for onward submission to the bank.

Awaiting your urgent response via my private email.

Barrister Ette Bassey.
Director,Legal Department,State Bank Plc.
