"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: I Need Your Urgent Assistant

Mrs.Dorathy Obaseki,
Flat 8 Block 12
NNPC Quarters,
Garki Abuja Nigeria.

Please reply me through this mailbox dora_obaseki@hotmail.com

Hello Dear,

I presume this letter will come to you as a surprise, but as things unfold, we will know each other better. I am Mrs.Dorathy Obaseki, the wife of Chief Jackson Gaius Obaseki, the recently retired Managing Director Chief Executive, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). I am really sure that you will be of good assistance to me after you might've gone through this mail. For many years of marriage with my husband I have not gotten a child for my husband, and this has really troubled my him. As a result of the respect given to local tradition culture and custom here in Nigeria, my husband decided to break the marriage right, and divorced me on excuses of not having a child. As it is right now, I am out of my matrimonial home hiding for the sake of my life; hence I seek your urgent assistance.

I am soliciting your assistance in confidence as i was able to move out the sum of (US$25M) which was secretly defaced and is sealed in two metal boxes for security reasons. It was written as Diplomatic Documents and film materials as (PERSONAL EFFECTS). I deposited the boxes for safe keeping in a security/finance company on January 3rd 2001. I therefore personally, appeal to you seriously and religiously for your urgent assistant to move this money into your country where i believe it will be safe since i cannot leave the country due to the spies my husband put against me.

The money was given to my husband as gratification from some Foreign Oil Companies he helped in getting Allocation for the drilling of crude oil in Nigeria. As a civil servant, he does not want to be exposed; and the Nigeria law does not permit him to have access acount hence he gave me this money to keep in a safe place as to be exonerated from the eyes of government security operatives in Nigeria. I contacted my elderly sister for advice, she quickly introduced an idea of depositing the fund in a security company for safekeeping. The advice I followed.

Be rest assured that this transaction is 100% risk free, and my husband will not raise any alarm because the deposited documents was written in my name and in my possession. However, arrangements have been put in place to move this money out of the country in a secret vault through a security company. Please kindly send me your telephone number, fax number and also your legal names, address which i will hand over to my attorney to prepare you on how to claim the funds from the security company and as soon as you indicate your interest my lawyer shall send you all the related documents that will help you claim the fund.

Conclusively, I will be offering you 30% of the total sum while 60% will come to me and will be used for profitiable business investment which you will advice me on.in your country subsequent to when i will come. While 10% is mapped out for expenses as your government may demand for tax and it also coves some expenses you may encore.
Please reply urgently and treat with absolute confidentiality and sincerity.
Your negative or positive response will be highly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs. Dorathy Obaseki
