"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

My Dear,

This may come as a surprise to you due to the fact that we had no previous
correspondence and as such may see this mail as unsolicited. Please pardon
my intrusion as I am going to introduce myself to you.

I am Barrister Marcel Dagadiu, a solicitor at law and personal attorney to
late Mr. Patterson Ferguson who was a contractor with Shell Development
Company. Herein after shall be referred to my client.

On the 21st April 2002, my client, his wife and their only daughter were
involved in an automobile accident along Novissi Express road. All the
occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost their lives. Since then, I have
made several inquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended
relatives but this has proved unsuccessful. But before he died, he had US$12
million in bearer bonds in a bank here in Lome Togo.

After these several unsuccessful attempts to locate any member of his
family, to claim this money as his next of kin, I decided to contact you to
assist in repatriating the money left behind by my client in the bank where
this money is lodged by acting as his next of kin so that the money will be
paid into your account.

I have a mandate from the bank to present the next of kin to my late client
hence I am his local attorney or the funds will be confiscated by the
government as unclaimed bills. I also have the Power of authority to carry
out all obligations on his behalf and will use my powers as the attorney to
the deceased in providing you with all legitimate documents that will
authenticate your claim with the bank and this also cover you from the law.

I know that you might be wondering why I have decided to trust you to get
this money out and considering the fact that it's a lot easier and
straightforward. It is because I cannot stand as the next of kin to my
deceased client; I need a foreigner to stand as the next of kin while I back
him up as the lawyer.

If you accept to work with me in this, the proceeds will be shared equally
but 10% of the total funds will be put aside for expenses that might occur
during the course of this transaction.

As I said earlier I will provide you with all legal documents that will back
you up in this claim but I need assurance that you will not sit on my share
when the funds arrives your bank account .All I require is your honest
co-operation to enable us see this deal through.

I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that
will protect you from any breach of the law.

Please get in touch with me immediately with your personal telephone number
or fax number to enable us discuss further and for the urgency this
requires, please get to me via my private email address
marcel_dagadiu@latinmail.com or telephone.

I look forward to your urgent response.

Best regards,

Barr. Marcel Dagadiu.
Lome Togo.
