Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

I hope you are doing fine.Its my pleasure to compensate you for your assistance during my times of hardship that is,when I was looking for finance to free/transfer my money,$18m from the Reserve Bank of S.A, in January,2001, I hereby offer you another business that may possibly grant you great profits on the conclusion of the deal.

I have forwarded with this mail,manifest of the quantity,quality and value of Diamonds presently being cargoed down to Johannesburg,S.A. for sale to any viable buyer that you can provide anywhere in the world.I have not been able to conclude the transfer of my funds,$18m(USD) yet and 'am looking towards concluding this immediately the diamonds are sold.

My father Mr.Foday Sankoh died sometime in 2004 and the family has deemed now to be appropriate time to sell part of the trasures he has kept for us.I am responsible to carry on with the bidding and eventual sale of the treasures that are immeasurable in quantity and quality.The stones were realised by my father during his reign as the president of Sierra leone and,I am presently now in South Africa with one of my father's aide trying to sell the diamonds as was forwarded to you with this mail.
