"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: FROM ME

Hello,
I am Mrs. Melissa Kimora Edwards, widow to Mr. Andre Edwards, My Late
Husband was a Petroleum Engineer who worked and jointly owned an Oil field
with the Country's Minister for Fishery, Natural Resources and Environment
Mr. Bali Mass Taal, along with Amerada Hess, Tullow Oil and GE Petrol.

He also invested in The Gambia Groundnut sector through the Gambia
Divesture Agency.

My Husband and I left our Country New Zealand and arrived in Gambia in 1996
after the discovery of oil along Gambia Border with Guinea ; through friends
of my Husband he acquired Oil field and started the exploration of oil in
the Zafiro Oil field until April 26th this year when he died.

My Late Husband dedicated his life to helping the underprivileged here in
Gambia, he built a Medical Clinic that cared for Orphanages and for
treatment of the sick where Government Hospitals were deficient.

Two years ago he was diagnosed of having cancer, when his cancer situation
deteriorated we visited The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre
in Texas USA, his health situation worsened when we arrived home in Gambia
and died a month later April 26th and we had no child, his death created
sadness and loneliness in my life like I have never known, I lived all my
life with him and I have never been the same since he died, all these
problem culminated into serious illness and my health situation has been
very badly affected.

As a result of my illness I could not handle our businesses and there was
an attempt by some individuals and staff of our Company who worked for my
Late Husband to collaborate and divert our hard earned money thus I decided
to ship most of our valuables to Europe including the sum of US$3.2 Million,
I have been diabetic, my Doctor has expressed his concern that my liver was
affected, I am afraid I may not live too long.

Considering how some of these Gambians has treated me and having sent all
my Late Husband's money to Europe and my fear that I may die on a date I
don't know, I decided to make a choice that the money be directed to an
honest Humanitarian or a believer in helping me make efficient use of the
money even if I die, from my experience in life I found that material
acquisitions does not give happiness in it's entirety, but joy and
contentment in what we have and the desire to give a helping hand to the
NEEDY gives more joy. I am still sick and now temporarily live here at the
General Hospital in Banjul Gambia.

I need your open heartedness to stand in as the representative, to whom I
can entrust this money such that it is used to better the lives of these
people in desperate need of help, please indicate your deep minded
willingness to help Children without parents, destitute, Orphanages and the
sick and I shall nominate you as the trusty and shall inform my Late
Husband's Lawyer of all proceedings; this is necessary in case I die.

Thank you and I await your response
Sincerely,

Mrs. Melissa A.K Edwards.
