"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Dear Friend

Dear Friend,

With due respect, I write this letter to you seeking
your help and assistance though its difficult since we
have not met before. I am Timothy Kembo Makoni, the
son of the late Amos Muchene Makoni who happens to be
a brother to the Zimbabwean former Minister for
Finance and Economic Development. My Father was a
businessman and a politician, in the Zimbabwean
political arena. My father was the famous politician
who stood firm against President MUGABE's idea of
continuous fight in Democratic Republic of Congo, and
my Father also stood against the seizure of white
owned farms and the distribution of it to the blacks
without compensation to the white owners.

Because of my fathers sincerity, he was killed on 14th
october 2004 by a planned motor accident along
MASHONA-LAND in Western MASHONA Province in Zimbabwe,
the planners of the accident is the said dissidents
soldiers suspected to have the backing of the
Government and President MUGABE himself. My father was
rushed to University Teaching Hospital in Harare. On
hearing the incident, my Sister and I rushed to the
hospital, my father only managed to sneak a written
message to us, explaining his condition concerning one
Diplomatic box he concealed and deposited in a
security company in South Africa as Family valuables
and artifact containing US$18.5 Million (Eighteen
Million five hundred thousand US Dollars) and other
vital documents, which was meant for his political
campaign in the next election, november 2005

He instructed me to take my younger sister with the
documents of deposit and leave for Zimbabwe
immediately for our safety, which we successfully did.
We were met to go to South Africa where the Trunk Box
had been deposited, but for reasons beyond our
control, we relocated to The Netherlands where we are
currently staying as political refugees. All these
while, we have been trying to retrieve the consignment
from the Private Security Company in South Africa. The
Private Security Company advised that the trunk box be
sent to their sister company in the Netherlands for
onward clearance.

Just last month, Private Security Company finally
airfreights the consignment to their sister company in
the Netherlands. And the Private Security Company here
has informed me in the Netherlands that they have all
the documents regarding the trunk box, but the trunk
box is still at the custom department awaiting
clearance.

But the major problem now is that my present
immigration status here in the Netherlands would not
allowed me to engage in any business transaction. This
is why I am seeking your assistance to assist me clear
this consignment and suggest a line of investment we
can undertake. For your effort, I would be ready to
give you 25% of the total funds of (US$18.5 million),
and 5% set aside to cover any expenses that would be
incurred in the cause of the transaction.

Thanks and God bless you.

Yours Sincerely,

Timothy Kembo Makoni.
