"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: MAKE THIS CALL!

FROM THE DESK OF MR.FELIX ORUTA
ACCOUNT AND AUDIT MANAGER
BANK OF AFRICA (BOA)
OUAGADOUGOU, BURKINA FASO
WEST AFRICA.

Dear Friend,

I am Mr. Felix Oruta, head of Accounts and Audit Department of Bank of
Africa (BOA) Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. I decided to contact you after a
careful thought that you may be capable of handling a business transaction
of emence benefit.

In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of USD11.5m US dollars
(Eleven Million Five Hundred Thousand United States dollars). In an Account
that belongs to one of our foreign clients(Gaman National)and a former
contractor with the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) whose
death occured in ill-fated plane crash in year 2000. Since we got
information of the unfortunate inccident and his sudden demise, we expect
his next of kin or relation to come forward and inherit his fund with our
bank. But unfortunately the deceased supposed next of kin (his son)and his
wife were also victims of the said ill-fated plane leaving nobody behind to
claim his fund with the bank.

Therefore it is upon this discovery that I and other officials in my
department decided to make this proposal in good faith to solicit for your
kind assistance to represent as a business associate, or as the next of kin
to the deceased person to facilitate the release of the fund for
subsequent disbursement among ourselves including your goodself, since non
of the deceased relation has been located. We don't want the fund to be
transfered into the bank treasury as unclaimed Bill, hence our unanimous
decision to strike a deal.

It was clearly stated in the BOA condition of services that if such fund
remain unclaimed for a period as indicated, the fund will be transferred
into the Bank treasury as unlaimed. The request of a foreigner as next of kin
to the deceased person occasioned by the fact that the client was a
foreigner. It is not in our position as non foreigners to represent as a
next of kin to a foreigner .We agreed that 30% of the fund will be for you
as a partner and Account owner, 5 % will be set aside to offset the
necessary charges / taxes during the course of the transfer while 65% will
be for me and my colleagues.

There after I and my colleagues will visit your country for disbursement
according to the percentage agreed. To enable the immediate transfer of this
fund into your account overseas as arranged. You must apply first to the
bank as a next of kin, relation, or business associate of the deceased
client. We shall upon our receipt of your acceptance of this proposal send to
you by mail Payment Application Form (PAF) to be filled and return by you to
the Bank as a prerequisite to facilitate the payment. It is very much
important to inform you that this transaction is 100% hitch free and that
you should fill free and accord us the needed co-oporation.
