"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: I NEED YOUR HELP

FROM THE DESK OF
THE PROJECT MANAGER, NDDC.
NDDC SECRETARIATE,
168 ABA ROAD, PORTHARCOURT,
RIVERS STATE.

Hellow my dear,

Before I introduce myself, I wish to inform you that
this letter is not a hoax mail and I urge you to treat
it serious. I am a project manager with the NIGER
DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, NDDC. NDDC is a body set
up to develop the neglected oil producing region of
the country known as NIGER DELTA. Please read this:
http://www.nddconline.org/The_NDDC_Act.shtml

I obtained your email while searching for a reliable
person, who could assist me in receiving cash gift
from contractors awarded contracts executed under the
current budgetary allocation for this oil region of
the country. These bills had been approved for payment
by the concerned ministry. The contracts had been
executed and commissioned. What I am about to receive
now, is a promised cash gift from the contractors whom
I have helped during the process of obtaining the
contracts and in the processing of their payments. The
cash gifts to me from the contractors all totals TEN
MILLION THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND UNITED
STATES DOLLARS[USD 10,380,000.00] and this money was
lodged into a single account with a bank here in
Nigeria. Due to the recent Central Bank of Nigeria 25
billion naira minimum capital base for banks, the bank
where the fund was lodged could not meet the 25
billion naira CBN bench mark and therefore shall face
liquidation. As a result of this development, the
manager of the bank has adviced me to make arrangement
to move this money out of the bank as quickly as
possible before the bank is liquidated. This urgent
development has necessitated me to sort for the
assistance of a reliable and God fearing foreigner who
can assist me receive this money in his/her account
because as a government worker, I can not receive this
money directly. Read these as my supportive proof:

On my part, all modalities had been worked out in
ensuring a smooth conclusion of the transfer to you
within the next 7 working days. All I want from you is
your consent so that this money can be transfered to
you. If you can assure me that you are God fearing and
will hold the fund for me on trust when transfered to
you, then let me know immediately.

Please note that this transfer shall be done under a
legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any
breach of the law. Every arrangement for a smooth and
a successful transfer of the fund out of the country
is already in place and as soon as you indicate your
interest, further instructions will be passed on to
you on the procedure that we will follow in
accomplishing this task. In case you are in doubt
about my identity, please get confirmation from my
office but do not disclose this deal to any one. You
