"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: POSSIBLE SCAM FROM DON IN NEW ZEALAND IN RESPONSE TO ONE RECEIVED TODAY FROM U.

Hi Joe,
I am including to you the last letter I have received from this lady Franca and perhaps its pattern [or patter] may well seem familiar to you.

The only detail I have given to her is my full name and the first name of my son.    She knows nothing else.
Do you consider that is safe?
Perhaps I should add i have received 3 pics of her at my request.
I have been concerned enough to be checking my bank account more often in the last few days than I normally do.

I wish to thank you sincerely for replying to me.

Her page can be found on the NZDating webpage.

Because of your statements i will no longer bother with her.........a bit sadly.

regards,
Don Roberts
