"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir,

I am Umaru Bello Girei, I work in the financial surveillance department of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). We are urgently looking for a reliable foreign company or individual who could assist us to transfer the sum of $9,700,000.00 (Nine Million, Seven hundred thousand United States Dollars) only to an Overseas account.

The above sum belongs to late Edgar Hopkins of Hopkins Engineering Co, an American citizen who lost his life during the devastation of hurricane Katrina that hit New Orleans on August. 29 2005 at 6:10am on his visit to that city. He just concluded a three (3) years contract to carry out turn-around maintenance. with Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) a subsidiary company to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The project was successfully executed and hsi payment approval with ministry was under processing when he traveled to New Orleans. Late Edgar Hopkins has been working around the in west cost in Africa for several years but his family background was not known and there is no next of kin to claim this payment. The news of his death was concealed but deputy governor Dr. Tunde Lemo is aware of this information and we did not want this money to be to PPMC account as unclaimed payment. The key officials of the PPMC have agree with us to find a reliable foreigner to claim this payment either as the next of kin to late Edgar Hopkins or as a subcontractor who bought the contract from late Hopkins. The system of buying and selling contracts from the original bidders is practicable here.

To facilitate this arrangement, this following must take place.

Your name or company will be fixed into the Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) records as a subcontractor and have every contract documentation evidence backdated on your name. Your bank account detail inclusive and the sharing modality of the transferred fund to your account shall be discussed upon your willingness to participate in this proposed deal. Be rest assure that there is no risk taking in this transaction.

Looking forward for your timely response.

Yours faithfully,

Umaru Bello Girei
