"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Sir/Madam,

Compliments of the seasons. I have no doubt that this letter would come to you as a surprise since we have not met in persons. However, I urge you to treat the information herein with due and serious attention. Apart from being eternally grateful to you, I also assure that you shall be adequately compensated for your assistance. I am the above named person from Zimbabwe. I am the first son of Dr. Wimana Tinaye, one of the black farmers in the country. I do not know to what extent you are aware of the recent happenings in my country. My father was murdered in cold blood as a result of the confusion caused by the recent land decree introduced in Zimbabwe by the president, Sir Robert Mugabe. The decree empowers the so-called Zimbabwean war veterans to oust and re-possess farm lands owned by the white farmers.

This wicked decree has been politically motivated and has dumped Zimbabwe in political turmoil. My father vehemently contested this decree and as an opponent, he naturally became a target of the black invaders who swooped on his farm at around 6.30 am on June 2003 to carry out his gruesome murder. May his soul rest in peace..

Before his assassination however, he had deposited the sum of US$18. 5 million (Eighteen million, five hundred thousand US dollars) in a company in Madrid Spain. This money was for the purpose of purchasing chemicals and farm equipments for the establishment of a new farm in Swaziland. Owing to his death though, this project has become null and my family members have dispersed into political refuge in countries around the world. Before our departures however, I had used the certificate in my possession to contact the company in Spain to confirm ownership of the deposit. I have arrived Spain with an intention to claim the deposits and secure the contents in a bank account while I look for a reliable individual in your country where I wish to live and invest.

To my disappointment however, I have discovered that as an asylum seeker, I have no rights to operate bank accounts here. Consequently, I decided to make this urgent call to you. For your assistance in this regard, I shall give you 25% of the total funds. 70% should be left to me and my family for the investments while the remaining 5% should be for sundries and contingencies.

Please contact me with the above fax number or by phone as soon as you receive this letter and I shall provide you with further information and modalities on how this operation shall be carried out. But it may be important to assure you at this time, that there is absolutely no risks of any sorts. The whole transaction shall be strictly under my supervision and I have the documents to back up the funds.

I shall eagerly wait your response and may God bless you as you go into this project with me.

Sincerely yours,

Frank
