"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Appreciating your Willingness to Assist me on this transction

Dear VICTIM-FULLNAME.

Firstly, I wish to acknowledge the receipt of your email message concerning my proposition to you for diversion of a fund lodged into an account of an a private jet plane crash victim. I and my colleague do appreciate your interest and willingness to assist us in this business of immense mutual and financial benefit. However, find here-under further details about this transaction:

As explained previously, I am a Senior Officer working at the Fund Release Order Department. Based on my position as explained in my proposal, I am in a position to approve for the release of all contract claims to be paid either through a Prime Bank assigned by the Federal Government or via the nation's Apex Bank (Central Bank of Nigeria) if the amount involved is a huge one. However, Engr. S.AKOBA from Saudi Arabia executed contract through Federal Ministry of Works & Housing here in Nigeria. The contract amounts to the tune of $17.5M dollars, but on the process of transferring the money to him through a Prime Bank known as CITIZENS BANK OF NIGERIA, he died with his family in an a private jet plane crash disaster that occurred recently in Iran on his trip there.

Meanwhile, his contract dues ($17.5 million dollars) has been assigned to be paid through my office before I will give final approval for his payment to be released through CITIZENS BANK OF NIGERIA. Right now, nobody knows what is going on, except I and one of colleague in the office. Therefore, the above stated is the details about the origin of this transaction, which we now intend to divert into your account since no one is coming forward for the claim.

However, based on your willingness and readiness to assist me on this deal and because of the nature of this transaction, there is a need for you to place a letter of claim and send it to the bank, so that they can be aware that the deceased ( Engr. S.AKOBA ) has a next of kin who is entitled to claim his money. Therefore, upon my confirmation of your full bank details such as your bank name and address, the full account number, the swift code, your full name and address and other necessary details about you, I will prepare a format text copy of the Letter of Claim, which you will send to the Bank for an official claim of the fund. Once the bank received the Letter of Claim, they will pre-advice you on the necessary remittance procedures needed to actualize the release of your fund.

Therefore, urgently confirm your full banking details as highlighted above. Upon my confirmation of your full banking details, I will send to you the format text copy of the Letter of Claim, which you will forward to the Bank for the claim of the fund.
I hope my explanations are clear and I look forward to receiving your confirmation concerning the bank details as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Mohmoh muhammed
