"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Sir,
Consequent upon your inability to fulfill your obligation concerning the release of the above sum to you, we are hereby requesting you to submit in writing your unwillingness to receive this money. This is necessitated as a mark of procedure whereby the recipient is given the leverage to indicate readiness or unwillingness to receive payment. In your case, you have blatantly refused to do what is needful to receive this payment thereby proving your unwillingness to receive your money.

We therefore, request that you send in writing to this office that you are no longer willing to receive the above payment so that we can refer the money to the Government Treasury and close our books of accounts to avoid floating re-occurrence. You have 3 working days to do this otherwise, we will be compelled to refer this to the Board of Directors of our bank for their approval and consent for refusal.

We await your instant response.

Yours truly,

Dr. Ernest Ebi
