My name is Charles Marentia,I am the founder of the marentia orphanage home
situated in south Africa.our home cater for children who were abandoned by
their parents,children who lost their parents due to HIV /AIDS and children
who were abused by adults.
The marentia orphanage has been operating since 1997,I co-founded the home
with my life before then we were civil servants working in different local
government departments.i was a senior clerk in the home affairs and my wife
was an admin clerk.
We met in 1988 and we got married in 1991,ever since then we have been
trying to have kids of our own with no luck.In late 1996 when we realized
that we may never be able to have kids of our own due to medical
complications.,we both came to an agreement to adopts kids. It was at this
time that we realised that the number of kids that had been abandoned and
left on the street .we then decided to go step further and instead of
adopting a child from an existing orphanage ,we decided to get as many
children as we can get from the streets and cater for them.
This was how the marentia home was born ,we started with 5 kids but now in
2006 we have 52 kids and counting.The kids range from 6 months old babies to
13years old boy/girls.soon after we started the home ,my wife and I resigned
from our offices so that we could dedicate our entire time to the children
in our home.we have been running the orphaneg on donations ever since.As the
number of children increased we had to hire extra staff to help us run the
house ,now he have teachers ,nurses,cleaners,a cook and a securityman.
The reason why we have contacted you is because we need your help in anyway
you can give it.over the past two years the population of the home has
increased at a rapid rate and we have been having a lot of difficulties
running the home.At one time we had almost closed down home and send the
children back to the streets because the cost of maintenance had doubled.
In marentia ,we always have to consider the following expenses in order to
run the home,
(a) Rent for the building we are occupying
(b) Food for the children
(c) Salary for the staff
(d) Clothes for the children
(e) Toiletries for the children
(f) Medical supplies for the children
The government of south Africa is doing their best to help us with medical
supplies but they cannot help us with rent,food staff salary and
clothing.There are over 365 care giving home in south Africa ,some cater for
old some for people sick with HIV while the rest caters for orphans and
homeless children.so it is difficult for the government to provide for all
the homes.That is why orphanages like ours has to depend on donations of
good people like to help save the lives of these children so that they can
become better citizens in future.some of the children are infected with
HIV,some have TB while some have other various ailments which they have
contacted while on the streets of Johannesburg.these group of children
require special care .
As i write you this mail ,within the next couple of weeks another child will
arrive at our doorstep in need of love and care.The HIV /AIDS syndrome is
ravaging south africa and turning a lot of children to orphans overnight.Our
food supplies are low at the moment and we have to ration the food inorder
to make it go round.
We are appealing to the kindness of your heart to assist us financially so
that we can purchase the necessary supplies that will keep the home alive
and keep the children off the streets.please not that no amount is too
little,whatever you donate(your widows might)will be deeply appreciated.
