"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Bequest Enquiry
I, Sandra Hopper, Managing Partner, Rhodes and Rhodes Associates, a legal firm with emphasis on the provision of legal services, Tax, Energy and Property consultants etc. It is my pleasure to ascertain if you have any relationship with the deceased, Mr. Mark Yates, a client of ours, who died after a protracted illness leaving us as the executor to the will which resulted in this enquiry.
I would not want this correspondence to come as a surprise as we have searched for the benefactor of this bequest whom also bears the same names with you. This is a gift of personal properties which is put approximately at £10,000,000.00 (Million British Pounds Sterling). We shall appreciate if you could respond to this enquiry which is very vital to the execution of this will.
The implications of non response to this enquiry, is that, after fourteen(14) working days ,state laws prescribe that these properties be distributed among the heirs or next of kin. If no heirs or next of kin can be found, the properties escheats (transferred) to the state.
