"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir,

I am Dr. David J. Keddy, a professional staff of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Department of Health and Human Services, Liverpool, UK. I write to solicit your assistance in a project of mutual benefits.

We got your contact during my search for a reliable person to do this business with. In February 2005, a research grant (US$50Million) was given to my department with me as the leader of a team of other clinical professionals by the International Development Association (IDA) approved by the Board of Directors of the World Bank and World Health Organization (WHO) jointly coordinating the global response to human cases of H5N1 avian influenza otherwise globally known as Bird Flu and monitoring the corresponding threat of an influenza pandemic vis a vis Epidemic and Pandemic Alert and Response (EPR).

The research of Laboratory & Epidemiology Strengthening, Preparedness for Deliberate Epidemics has since been concluded (specifically in February 2006). Of the total amount given to us for the research purposes we only expended US$26 Million and we have returned US$13.5Million back to the World Bank leaving a balance of US$10.5 Million. We are contacting you with a view to transferring this balance out for our own use and using you as the Consultant that supplied most of the biological materials used during the researches carried out by my team. We have put in over 25 years of our lives into working for various governmental Institutions and as academics we do NOT have anything to show for it, hence this opportunity we see as a God-Sent one, meanwhile, we are presently quarantined within the premises of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and we would be kept here for the next six months to one year to be sure that we are not infected by the H5N1 avian influenza which is the
bird flu.

We sincerely hope that you will be of assistance to us. I implore you to treat this mail as confidentially as possible as we are still active academicians / scientist, though retiring in the next one year. If you are not in a position to assist us, do not respond to this mail and we apologize for taking your time. Upon receipt of your acceptance to assist us in this, we will negotiate on what should be your share from this amount for assisting us. If you are interested in this venture, please send your full names and address and your direct mobile phone and telefax numbers for effective communication.

Please I await your urgent response through my private email to enable us proceed for the transfer once we agreed on the percentages.
Sincerely Yours,
Dr. David J. Keddy
