"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: BLESSINGS OF THE LORD BE UNTO YOU

Beloved Brethren,

Blessings of the Lord be unto you. Sorry for I have not written you for some days now, it was because of same illness that kept me in the hospital for sometimes now. The date of my major operation has been fixed on monday, the 7th of august 2006 and i ask that your congregation join me in your prayers to make sure that i survive the operation on monday.

The bank of spain sent informations to the hospital I am last time asking me if I permitted you to claim this $5.2M which I told them that i handed the claim and transfer to you for missionary actualization. Again, they repeated information to the hospital this morning telling me that you fail to follow their procedures and as such, that the bank officials will no longer process the fund for release to you but i pleaded them on the problem.

They said that you are meant to pay the sum of of $7,350 that covers all charges before delivery of this $5.2m to you but that you only accepted to pay $4,410 which they said will not be accepted.

I spoke length with the secretary of the bank and she agreed after my pleading that they will consider to accept the $4,410 but that i should draft a letter and send to their bank stating that the balance payment will be made immediately you receive the fund at your residence.

I have drafted it already and sent to them before writing this mail to you.

So brethren, try everything necessary and finalise with the bank without delay so that you will receive this fund and start this soul surviving mission.

Remain blessed and always remember me in your prayers.

Rev.Fr Joseph Afoke
