"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

Dear sir,

Please i am very sorry to intrude in your privacy,I have a proposal for you, however it is not mandatory nor will I in any manner compel you to honour against your will.

I am Steve Wems i will be very brief but before I will beg to ask you a few questions,do you have the fear of God in you,do you have human sympathy for the less fortunate victims of disasters like tsunami and hurricane katrina and lately hurricane rita that left a lot of people homeless and dead.

I am an orphan at the moment and my father was a cocoa farmer and he got killed but before he died, he confided in me that he had two trunk boxes containing a certain amount of money and family valuables for security reasons,I will not state the amount now deposited with a reliable security firm which has its headquaters in europe, he told me that he did not declare the contents of the trunk boxes to the firm.

He gave me vital documents containing important security codes related to the deposit and he told the firm that it belonged to his foreign business counterpart who will come at a later date for the claim.

He cautioned me to look for a trustworthy and God fearing man or woman who will stand in as his foreign business partner and assist me secure this funds.

He asked me to give back 10% tithe back to the church as instructed in Malachi Chapter 3 Verses 10.

He asked me not to depart from the word of God,he asked me to make sure that i become a pastor which has been my heart desire.

I am only 22 now and these challenge is much on me. I needed a gaurdian, however i contacted one American by name mr Mathews Graham who happens to be a nice person to me.

He has visited the company here in Abidjan, Ivory Coast to see things himself and he was happy for all the operations manager told him concerning the consignment.

He travelled back to New Orleans on a holiday trip promising to come back to Abidjan Ivory Coast to pay what the company told him to pay as outstanding debt incurred during the storage time and find a safe way to lift the box without any hitch.

He informed me on 15/08/2005 indicating that he had paid the security company outstanding debt of 67 000 us dollars for them to cargo the boxes through diplomatic courier service.

I tried to reach him on 29/08/2005 to let him know that the company had cashed the money and is ready to shift the consignment in the next 72 hours only to hear the shock of my life that Mr Graham was among the people who died on the
recent hurrican katrina disaster,a category 5 storm which struck a catastrophic blow at the gulf coast driving walls of water across the city's leevees flooding
New Orleans, destroying homes.

Immediately i got the news i stopped the security firm from shifting the consignment until further notice.

In fact all i want you to do is to write me back urgently immediately you receive this message indicating your interest to help me out of this problem.

Fate has not treated me well,i have lost people that are dear to me,please i am in need of your urgent aid Reverend. I hope this proposal meets your kind approval.

Best regards

Steve Wems
