"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: This mail is an Emergency, you have to reply please.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greeting to you once again, how are you and your family. You may be
wondering why such a mail should come to you. I am sorry for any
inconveniences this may cause you but I believe that is how it has been
destined by nature that we should meet. This is a help both parties would
benefit from.

If you study this mail carefully, I believe you will be convinced to help me
out. My portfolio is, I am a banker head of operations with the Pacific
Intl. Bank Plc. Last Friday I cargo a consignment which I have deposited
with a security company planning to go out with it, through diplomatic means
to your country which is presently in London in the security department of
Ecowas Diplomatic Courier Unit awaiting final delivery to your country.

Its destination has not been determined because I do not have anybody to
receive it on my behalf that was why I contacted you.

Listen I would like to explain to you very confidential matter concerning
this consignment I have sent out through the diplomatic means without your
information. Yes I am working with the bank and this our bank was among the
banks that was listed that the past military administrations were using to
carry or move money out side the country for their own personal use. These
funds were looted from government treasure.

Now there was some money in my possession totaling Twenty Million United
States Dollars ($20,000,000.00) that was packaged in a box and brought to me
by a late General whom I will let you know as we go on for my bank to help
him move out or transfer to Swiss.

The day this money was brought to me to be transferred in two days time
after some paper works has been done, the news came that the General is
dead. Then I saw that this was an opportunity for me to sit on the money
because it was looted money. To be frank with you, I left this money for
about a week before I decided to deposit it with a security company where I
have a school mate who works there.

Please, for your information I did not disclose this money to the bank since
I got the information that the General is dead, neither did I disclosed it
to the security company.

After the death of the General, a new general was sworn in before the
civilian regime came in. The General who was sworn in to take over the late
General, when he came in, he attacked all the banks that was been used by
some of the Generals to transfer money abroad and my bank was one of them,
all they wanted was the banks to tell them where those money has been
transferred,
Into which some has been reviled to them.

Why I am telling you this was to let you know how this money came to my
hand. Now I am in house arrest because during the time the General took over
all the managers in all the banks that was listed were arrested and detained
before the civilian took over, now I am no more in detention but in house
arrest for the matter is now in the court.

Last week Friday, the information that I received from my friend who was my
school mate that works in the Diplomatic office told me that their agency is
planning to impound the consignment that has been deposited with them that
has lasted up to one year or more with out claim.

Immediately I told my wife to go to the diplomatic office where I deposited
the box that contains the money and move it through the advice of my friend.
In the Diplomatic office I have told them when the box was deposited, that
the contents of the box were vital personal effects belonging to my client
{that is you}.

When the box was weighed, the weight was 128kg then I was asked to pay for
the charges, which was calculated and put at $30,250.00 which I paid and
planning to take it to your country before I was arrested. Now because of
the information I got the cargo has left Nigeria shores to London only
awaiting to be taking to your country.

Please indicate what percentage you will take to see that this fund is
properly kept in your possession until I am through with the matter here. If
I may suggest, you take 30%

of the total sum and 65% is for me and 5% for any expenses that may come up
from retrieving the consignment from the Diplomats in your country. Please
in return of this mail indicate your interest; I was informed by the
Diplomat here that the cargo is presently in London waiting for the final
destination to your country. Now the help I need from you is as follows:

1. your full name and address where the consignment would be delivered to
you.

2. Your mobile telephone number and fax number.

This is to enable me forward the in formations to the diplomatic Agency in
London, to deliver the cargo to your door post, so when I am discharged by
the court, by then you would have retrieved the cargo from the Diplomats
then I will come over.

Please I believe in you as my whole life depends on this money.
Thanks for your understanding. Now you can understand that my coming will be
delayed for some time.

Best regards,

Dr Dan Umaru.
