"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: HELLO

Greeting to you.
I wish to accost you with a request that would be of immense benefit to both of us. Being an executor of wills. The issue I am presenting to you is a case of my client who Died without a next of Kin and now I am faced with confusion of who to pass his fortune to. According to English law, the fortune is supposed to be bequeathed to the government.
However, I don't belong to that school of thought which proposes that the fortune of unlucky people be given to the government. My purpose of contacting you to assist me lay claim to the legacy of £7.5million, which this unfortunate client of mine left behind. Everything will be left between you and I. The share would be 40% for you and 60% for me.
I would want to take care of the needy and less privileged, as this is my primary objective. All I have to do is prepare the will to make you the beneficiary to the £7.5million legacy. I therefore appeal to you not discuss this request with anybody, even if you decline my request. At this point I want to assure you that your true consent, full cooperation and confidentiality are all that are required for us to take full advantage of this opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours truly,
KENNETH COLE
