"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Mr Aurick Hatz,

Please pardon me for the belated response to your note. I thought it was necessary to bring your note to the attention of my client. It took a couple days to accomplish that due to constraints arising from protocol, if you know what I mean.

He said to thank you for your desire to assist us with this project. My client thinks your notes say something positive about you. May God bless your heart, he said. My client wants you to know that he is cashing in on this rare opportunity in his life to help his family, but knows he will require the assistance of an intelligent, trustworthy and reliable foreigner. His intention here is to relocate abroad with his family, but will need to befriend (so to speak) someone, hopefully you are, to assist him and family migrate, settle as well as assist him protect his money and direct the investment of same in possible lucrative businesses, so that his family and yours will not have to work ever again but conveniently dwell on the proceeds of the investments. In other words he is not just looking for a short term business partner but for a long term, if not a life time relationship with one who is willing to be a friend and work with him, rather than take advantage of him.

He is looking forward to living a safer and healthier life among law abiding citizens, so he believes that the first step towards achieving that is not to contravene any law. In that direction therefore we have been working round the clock to ensure not only a trouble free exit of funds from its present place of domiciliation, but also absolutely legal arrival of same to you, our new found friend.

Mr Hatz , by Wednesday coming week, I have an all important meeting with a friend and banker in the local bank here where the funds are lodged and I will keep you abreast of developments.
My regards
Ben Umaru (esq)

Hello,

I wish not to be unkind except that how for sure is it that such a special piece of luck can be selected for me? Why me? Can I ask for some evidence?

Truly I desire not for any farce to be played on me, so if it is not a joke then provide me some pertinent documents.

Let me know if you fully comprehend the gist that I am expressing?

Aurick
