"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,
I am Edward Ho Sing-tin,Chairman of the Hong Kong Industrial Estates
Corporation.I have been searching for a reliable person, who can assist
my colleagues and I in receiving funds from some contractors who
executed some contracts for our corporation last year.Through my
search in the internet and a couple of business directories,I came up
with a list of individuals and companies contact details of which
yours happens to be among and have decided to present you with my
proposal in anticipation that anyone of you will be in a position to
assist us.
My proposal is quite simple and straigthforward and it will not take
much time to execute. All I want you to do for us is to receive funds
which
resulted from over-invoiced bills from contracts awarded by our
coporation to some companies in Canada and Europe. These contracts have
been executed by the respective companies and the over-invoiced bills
have been approved and payment has been made to the contractors. The
funds which We want you to help us receive now is kick-back which they
(contractors)promised us for helping them in approving payment for the
inflated contractual sums.
I know you must be wondering why we need your assistance in this
matterand this I must explain to you.First, there is no way we can
receive
this funds on our own here in Hong Kong because we would have to
explain to the
authorities were our extra income is coming from.Secondly,we can open
accounts outside of Hong Kong and have the contractors make payment
into these accounts but the laws as forbiden goverment officials like
us from operating foreign account, hence we have no other option than
to solicit the help of someone outside Hong Kong to help us receive
this funds in his account and also help us invest it.
The amount in total is about $1,450,000.00(one million four hundred
and fifty
thousand dollars) and we have agreed to give 10% of this sum to
whoever would assist us.If you are willing to assist us please
indicate by replying me via this email
address:edward_sing78@yahoo.com.hk or
Fax:852-301-72871 providing me with the following information about
your-self
Full name:
Contact telephone no:
Mailing address:
Age:
Occupation:
And
any other details about yourself:
On receipt of this information I would make all arrangement with the
contractors that will enable them contact you and discuss with you on
how payment would be made to you.
I anticipate a positive responce from you and thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Edward Ho Sing-Tin.
