"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Winner,

This is to aquint you with a new development that arose from series of
meetings that have been held by the Management of the Lottery Company, which
came to an end today. These meetings were aimed at finding better
and easier method of processing/payment of winning Claims to Winners.

At the conclusion of the meeting today, It was unanimously resolved and
endorsed by the Management Board of the Lottery Company that all Winners
henceforth shall now receieve their Winning Prizes via Wire Transfer, and
not via Cheque anymore. It was also resolved that all prizes will now be
paid out in One full installment rather than the initial arrangement of
Four(4) seperate installments.

Towards this end, you are advised to send to me immediately your Banking
details for the purpose the Wire Transfer which will be effected by the Bank
for International Settlements of the Lottery Company, Natwest Bank UK,
London Branch or Royal Bank Of Canada.

This development has since been communicated to the courier company.

Sincerely,
