"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Letter from Jeff

My dear,
I am making this contract with you because of the reliable information I got about you from The Gambian Trade and Commerce Industry while seeking a reliable individual/company I can do business with though I did not discuss the nature of the business with them for security reasons.

For the purpose of introduction, I am a 22 years old son of Chief David K. Lumba, the local village chief and a friend to Charles Taylor, the former President of Liberia. My father died through the oppression and torture of the members of the opposition party when his boss was forced out of power before the succession of the Present President, ELLEN JOHNSON-SIRLEAF.

During this ugly incidence, our family houses and all other properties were burnt. The rest members of my immediate family ran-off for their dear lives as I later did. I only managed to get hold of the Certificate of Deposit of the US$27.5M deposited by my deceased father with a security company while he was alive. Right now, I cannot tell whether my mother and my two brothers are still alive. I am currently residing at the Refugee Camp in The Gambia.

In this hiding I am so distressed as I no longer have access to any good thing in life. Even the food I feed on without satisfaction is hardly better than animals' feed. My extended family members are not helping situation for me as they are all out to see if there be any left fortune of my immediate family for them to hijack from me for their personal gains, thus, I am alone in seeing things through for myself to avoid their prying eyes.

For this reason, I cannot come forward with my name in the claim of this money, hence your importance in this transaction. Life at present is worse than anybody could think of, especially now that our breadwinner is no more and the only left wealth is yet to be claimed. My dear, please come to my aid as soon as possible in the claim of this money.

When the money is successfully moved to your country, I would like you to assist me with a letter of invitation into your country, help me to invest my own share of the money in any lucrative business, then help me arrange for an admission to go back to school so that I could complete my university education there in your country.
My beloved, you will be compensated with 25% of the whole money as soon as you have the money in your bank account in your country.

I honestly guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law so long you can help me keep this deal top secret for I have already contacted a very competent lawyer who will help in procuring the necessary documents to enhance a risk/hitch free transaction in your claim of this money. As soon as I receive your favourable, response I will send you copy of the certificate of deposit issued to my late father as at the time of his deposit.

Please I am eagerly expecting your kind response via this email or jefflumba@lycos.co.uk as I count so much on you to save my soul.
Thank you and God bless.

Warmest regards,
Prince Jeff Lumba
