"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: STATUS,

Late Peter Jerome Thanh, were he had access to some vital information as to how the funds will be paid to the next of kin. Since his death, none of his next-of-kin is alive to make claims for this money as his heir, because they all died in the same accident, him and the wife, Yvette Thanh (May their soul rest in peace). The account balance as of this 31st October is US$21,000,000.00 (US$21m dollars only). I now seek your permission to have you slate Peter Jerome Thanh, were he had access to some vital information as to how the funds will be paid to the next of kin. I now seek your permission to have you stand as a next of kin to the deceased, as all documentations will be carefully worked out by me and my friend for the funds valued (US$21,000,000.00) to be released in your favor as the beneficiary's next of kin. After 8 years the bank is permitted by law of Spanish to send the money to the treasury as unclaimed bills and the money shared amongst the directors of the bank.
