"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From Mrs.A.Maghreb

Hello My Dear Friend,

Prayer costs time, but it is far more precious than silver and gold in
today’s World. In the light of this, I've been touched to contact you for
this share of His amazing grace.

I am Alicia Maghreb from Athens, Greece. I was married to late Kolo Maghreb
of blessed memory who was a Consultant Engineer in the Republic of Cote
d'Ivoire for Nine years. We were married for Sixteen years without children.
Kolo died after an illness that lasted a couple of days. Since his death, I
have been battling with breast cancer and cystic fibrosis.

Recently, my doctor told me that I had just a few Months to live as a result
of the extensive damage to my body system, occasioned by cancerous cells in
my breast. The worst trauma I've got, however, is the fact that I also had a
partial stroke a few weeks ago. Putting all this in the balance, I came up
with the decision to transfer my life savings and Inheritance to various
charity organizations in Cote d'Ivoire and to a God fearing person who will
utilize part of this money for the good of mankind.

As it is, I have decided to bequeath to you, the sum of $5,000,000.00 with
all sincerity believing that you will not cease in remembering me every day,
in your prayers. The Word emphasizes so much on God's benevolence. I took
this decision because I don't have a child, who will inherit this money. My
Husband's relatives are hassling for my wealth while I still have some
little breath of life left in me, albeit I had made a good provision for all
of them. I know that after my death I shall be with God the most beneficent
and most merciful.

As I am presently in the hospital, my means of communication is limited to
this laptop, which my doctor has graciously left for my use. Besides I don't
want my husband's relatives to get wind of this whole affair until it is too
late to stop. As soon as I receive your reply and confirm your Readiness to
receive this money and learn how you would like to utilize it, I shall give
you the contact of the Finance House in Abidjan, as they are waiting for my
instructions in this regard.

I want you to know that this Fund you will receive from me is a Gift from a
Dying Woman, you will have to use it wisely and make sure that you extend
this blessing to the less privileged in society, and you will not have any
problem in receiving the money as I have already negotiated with the finance
house where this fund is domicile to ensure speedy transfer to your
nominated account, on my instruction.

So I need you to mail me your telephone number and the address where the
money should be sent.

May the Peace and love of God be always with you.

Alicia Maghreb.
