"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir/Madam,

YOUR CONTRACT REF#: NNPC/FGN/PH-KADREF/92:

After the deliberation of the board of Directors of the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation and members of Presidential Committee on Contract
Payment. It was conclusively agreed by the Presidency which they instructed
to release payment to all Next of Kin to our Subcontractors who have not
received their contract payment before her demise.
From the file of our bona-fide subcontractors your name/company was discover
being NEXT OF KIN to one of deceased who have not received his contract
payment. And according to the Will of the beneficiary, stated that upon his
demise that his contract payment should be release to you being NEXT OF KIN.
I wish to inform you that your inheritance payment have being processed and
will be release to you upon receipt of this payment notification letter.
Also note from the record of our outstanding sub-contractors’ which we have,
your inheritance payment is US$16.5Million. And your funds shall be release
to you through our Apex Bank by telegraphic transfer to your account.
Please re-confirm to me the following information as stated below on your
returning this mail to us.
