"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I am, Dr.Evans Okojie a director with the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation Contract award monitoring committee.It is with trust and
confidence that I make this urgent and important business proposal to you
on behalf of my colleagues.

Actually,I would have contacted you by surface mail but for the urgency
and the confidentiality this transaction demands hence i decided to
contact you via email.

We are contacting you because we are aware that you are a contractor
and would be abreast with contracts involving procurements and
maintainance of engineering instruments for oil companies and the like.

My colleagues and I are members of the Contract Award Committee (CAC)
of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). My colleagues
have mandated me to look for a trustworthy company into whose account some
funds is to be transferred.The nature of your company\'s business is
irrelevant to this transaction,as all arrangements have been concluded for
a successful and hitch-free transaction.

We are in our possession vital approved documents to remit the sum of
FORTY ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS
(US$41,500,000.00) This money came about as a result of contract
over-invoicing,the original contractor has already been paid off,so i and my colleagues want a foreign partner who we can arrange with to come forward as a contractor with our ministry who has not been paid.

We have secured all the necessary documents for the release of this
fund,we want you to provide us with your bank account so that we
transfer the funds through TELEGRAPHIC TRANSFER(T.T) and as soon as we get this done we shall travel to meet with you for our share of the funds,we
are aslo looking into investing part of our share in your country
through your assistance.

We are willing to offer to you 20% percentage of the total sum and
profit accruing from investment plans. We are absolutely sure and
positive that this arrangement will be of mutual benefit to us, and we crave
your indulgence to treat this proposal with utmost trust and
seriousness.

We have taken measures to ensure that there is no risk involved on both
parties; we have estimated that this transaction will be concluded
within 14 working days on receipt of your acceptance to this proposal.Most
important to send back to me now is:

Your private telephone,fax numbers Name and address of your bank, phone
and fax numbers Your name, company name and address Bank account and
particulars.

We are civil ser vants who are not entitled to operate a foreign
