Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Dear Friend,

I am very sorry for the informal manner in which this mail is reaching you.
This is necessitated by my urgent need to reach a dependable and trustworthy
foreign partner. This request may seem strange and unsolicited for, but I
crave your indulgence and pray that you take my request very serious, may
the blessing of God be upon you and grant you the wisdom to understand my
situations and how much I really need your assistance I will start by
introducing myself.

I am Mr. Henry Taylor, the eldest son of the late Sir Beuford Taylor of
Liberia . Before the death of my father he was a former special adviser to
the former president Charles Taylor. After the fall of the government my
father with other top officials was detained by the government of Charles
Taylor for alleged financial losses. Unfortunately my father died in
custody.

Since then the government has been accusing my family with strange
accusation. At first I thought it was a little vendetta from my father's
enemies but I was wrong, then they froze all our bank accounts known to
them, hoping that we will starve to death. Why can't we all live in peace?
Since I can't do anything in my position here, this is where you come in. My
family is going through hardship; the remaining ones and I are under duress.
The new government has seized more than u.s$27million dollars already and
they are still seizing a lot of land and property. All that is remaining now
is ₤10.7 Million Great British Pounds, and this money has been kept in
a place I cannot disclose, until we make personal contact.

We cannot touch this money in the security company here in Accra Ghana for
you know we are under a very tight situation and are being seriously watched
by the government. So after discussing with my mother, this is what we plan
to do with the money, we plan to send it to your country using a very
popular diplomatic courier service. So this is why we need a foreign partner
and your help.

Since you will be the one collecting the package in the country that it will
be sent to, the sum will be shared in three ways. 20% will be used to invest
in your country or company and while 20% will be for you and the other 60%
will be for us. Is this okay? We also hope you can be trusted and that you
won't disappoint us? And also confidentiality is extremely important and
before I forget once the sum arrives in the designated country (which I will
disclose to you later) we will require you to send us an invitation letter
to visit your country and collect our share.

This is not a deal or business; it is a cry for help. May God guide you.

regarding this situation which I will explain to you clearly when we come in
