"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Sir,By the time you get finished reading this email, you would probably bepondering a few things in your mind. This is assuming you do not delete it as one of the poor attempts at scam that has become the cancer out ofAfrica. One of the points you would be pondering is, "who is this person, and how did he get to know me". To answer the last question first, I do not know you. I got your name off of the internet.By way of introduction, my name is Walter Chase and I am an audit officerwith the Government of Ghana. Please note that I am not a directstaff of the Government of Ghana, I am an external auditor on a 10 yearcontract to Audit the accounts of government parastatals and Ministries.I have a private accounting firm which deals mainly with auditing of corporateand government accounts. Permit me to say that we have 75% of the market shares of theindustry in Ghana.THE PROPOSITION:In auditing the accounts of the Akosombo Hydro Electric Dam, we came tofind out that the cost
of the Maintenance of the Dam had not been paid to the contractors. We found out, further that the Government of Flt. Lt.John Jerry Rawlins awarded the contract in 1998 but half way through theproject, the government of Mr. John A. Kufour, in a political maneuverintended to favor party and campaign supporters, re-awarded the contract to another contractor. With the resultant effect that the first contractor, who was half way through the project and who had already received 2/3s of his payment left the project for the second contractor. Please note that the entire payment for the first contractor had already been approved and allocated and was sitting in a domiciliary account at theAgricultural Development Bank pending completion of work and subsequent disbursement. However, the Kuffour administration in their over zealous (justified orotherwise, I would not know, I am not a political analyst) haste to repay campaign contributors, allocated, approved and paid out the entire
amount to the second contractor. The maintenance of the dam has been completed, the contractor paid and a balance of $32.5 Million ($32,500,000.00) which was to have been used to pay the first contractor, sitting dormant at the Agricultural development bank.On further investigation at the bank, we found out that the bank is patiently waiting (as banks often do when they have your money) for the firstcontractor to collect his money. You must understand that the First contractor was aforeign firm and as far as they are concerned, they have received payment for the job they did and that ends the story for them. The only people who are privacy to this information are myself, my firstassistant and the General manager of the Dam himself. And the three of us have come to a common understanding.HOW DOES THIS CONCERN YOU?It doesn't. And that is the plain truth. We are however, hoping that we could convince you to use your company to claim the fund as a sub-contractor to the initial
contractor that did the work. Please note that everybody willassume, that although your party did not complete the job, you are applying for payment for work you already did before the re-awarding of the contract.Should you wish to know, The system consisted of the construction of a new head reservoir measuring 90 square kilometers, a dam and system of locks atthe reservoir. From this reservoir, a 12 km by-pass canal within theVolta lake to divert water to the power plant at Akosombo. Approximately 90 to 97percent of the Volta lake flow was diverted to Akosombo. The remainingflow were diverted 8 kms back to the old Volta river bed. Please note that we would have to register a local company (back dating the registration papers and all to 1998 to accommodate the time frame) in your name or any name you give us. We would also create contracts between you and the Akosombo dam authorizing you to undertake the sub-contracted work at the amount above mentioned. As a matter of fact!
,
we have thought out theentire process and we have the right contacts in all the right places to make this happen. The point is that like everything in life, there are risks, but the risk to this is so minimal as to be negligible. What's in this for you, you might ask. 35% of the sum total. That is what is yours. For your efforts and your assistance. As I told you in the beginning of my letter, I do not know you, however, I have taken necessary preliminary precautions to ensure that I get myshare of the funds when wired to you. And one of such precautions is that we will sign a non circumvention and non disclosure agreement protecting both of us. Secondly, I will be with you in your country at the time ofthe transfer so that as soon as the funds arrive your account, you willimmediately wire ours to our designated account. What prevents you from killing me and taking off with the loot? Nothing, only I hope you wouldn't. Damn stupid of me, no? Life is a gamble and so is this.
Should you have any questions what so ever, please feel free to ask me. I would only be too glad to answer them to the very best of myknowledge.Should you wish, Please leave me a number and I will call you immediately. Please Note: reply to this e mail- walter_chs@yahoo.com. Until I hear from you, accept my very kind regards.Sincerely,Walter Chase
