"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dearest Friend,

Greetings. I just came across your e-mail as I was on
the net. I have a special need and would like you to
help me. First let me introduce myself to you. My name
is Alicee Mamadu, I am 19 years old girl. I am
originally from Liberia. My parents settled in Cote
D'ivoire here where I am writing you for the past 15
years and were into trading. My late dad made some
fortune here but the problem I have is that the crisis
that started in my country that spread to Cote
D'ivoire here claimed the lives of both my dad and
mum.

As businessman, my dad used to trade between here and
some countries outside Africa. In one of this trips
he had discussion with a foreign partner and he was
supposed to go back to finalised the deal of about
$5,000,000 (five million dollars only). As soon as he
returned he made a deposit in a bank here of that
amount. Since he died a year ago, I have been waiting
for his business partner to come over and ask for him
but it has not happened. Now I want you to help me. I
know it is unusual to ask you to help me so that I can
transfer this money out. As there is a civil war here,
I am afraid that the situation may escalate.

What you will need to do for me is this: Provide an
account where this fund will be deposited, and also
get me a place to stay as I still want to go back to
school. Secondly help me to get a visa to your country
when the transfer is done. Because of the security
problem here I would like you to keep this matter to
yourself. In my next mail I will send to you my
picture and also document relating to the deposit.

I would like you to send your telephone contact when
replying my mail. I want to thank you in advance for
agreeing to help me.

God bless you,

Miss Alice Mamadu
