"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir/Madam,
You may be surprise as you receive this unsolicited mail as it may appear to be. Sorry to bother you any way.
I am Mrs. Vera Eyadema, second wife to the late President Gnassingbé Eyadéma of Lome,Togo. In order to avoid any long meaninglesstalk,
I am looking for a person who can be TRUSTED to handle part of the money the late President wanted to go and deposit in Switzerland for me and my
only Son three weeks before he died. The money was deposited in a Security Company for safe keeping . To be honest with you, we were no longer married
before his death but he deposited the money in my Name to help me and my only Son. I am presently in a neibouring country Cote D' Iovire (Ivory Coast) due
to the present political instability in my country and because there is no peace in my country right now. Same here the political situation here is not good enough
to invest in this country any more.
Get back to me as soon as you receive this email to enable me give you further details and modalities for work.
I wait for your quick response to my proposal.
