"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear sir

I am Yusuf Ahmed the bank manager of Al- shamal Islamic Bank in Sudan . I know you are aware of the George Bush administration and his other western allies particularly Britain and Canada 's campaign to root out the finances of individuals and organizations suspected of supporting terrorism. Following an order issued on the 21st August 2003 by American government targeting terrorist and freezing the accounts of a number of organizations and individuals suspected to have links with Osama bin ladin in Sudan, which affected the following banks Al- shamal Islamic Bank , Tedamon Islamic Bank and Faisal Islamic Bank of Sudan. I got information from US office of foreign assists controls and financial services authority about US plans to close the banks, and managed to move a substantial amount of money which amounted to Twelve Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars ($12.5M) from some dormant account held at Al-shamal Islamic Bank, Khartoum Mc Nimr street branch. I could
not remit this money to another Bank abroad through the mainstream banking system due to time constraint and account reliability. I deposited the money with a private security/finance company, in South Africa , using the bank long business relationship with the company under the strictest confidential arrangement. I do not want to invest this money in Africa due to the political and economic reasons. I want to transfer this money to your country for investment under your guidance and this is exactly why I am contacting you.

What I want from you --- 1. A reliable Bank account where this money will be deposited.--2.Your permission to change the certificate of deposit in to your name since I am a refugee here in South Africa . ---3.Your private telephone and fax numbers. ----- 4. To make adequate accommodation arrangement for me and members of my family so that on your visit to claim the money in South Africa, I and my family will go back with you to your country. For this assistance,25% of the total sum will be given to you and 5% of the money will be mapped out for all expenses to be incurred during the process of transferring this money.Furthemore other rewards for you would be discussed in detail in subsequent communications. I want to assure you that there is no risk involved in this transaction and need not to remind you of the absolute confidentiality and urgency that this transaction demands.

Really, I have no peace of mind here till this money is successfully transferred to your account. For security reasons you are to contact me with my private telephone number below. You are also welcomed to reply in Arabic if possible for more security reasons.

May the blessing of Allah be with you and your family

Salam,

Yusuf Ahmed
