"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

It's indeed funny to know how life treats us humans; I say this because when I was kid, I was told we all will die one day, little did I know mine was just lurking around the corner; I don't want you to feel sorry for me, because, I know we all will die someday, one day. My name is Shane Curtis; I live in Hextable, England. I have been diagnosed with a heart disease, which my doctors over here say there is a possibility of my health being critical. It has defiled all forms of medicine.

I wouldn’t say I have not lived my life so well, because we are humans and we are bound to do some rights and wrongs although I never really cared for anyone not even myself but my business. I wouldn’t say I am wealthy, but I had hundred of acres of land and some deposited wealth hidden in a firm somewhere in England; I was never generous; I was always hostile to people, especially my workers and I only focus on my business as a farmer as that was the only thing I thought mattered to me in life, making money. But now I regret all this, as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. Oh Yes, I do believe in God and when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that God is about to call me, I have willed and given most of my properties and assets to my immediate and extended family members and as well as a few close friends.

I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul and so I have decided to give my hidden wealth to HIV supporting organization, not forgetting the impoverished heart disease organization and sickle cell anemic organization, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have been able to distribute some of my wealth to some charity organizations in Europe, eastern Asia and Africa when I was strong and healthy. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this my self any more hence I am contacting you. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money, which I have there to charity organization in Asia because of the poverty stricken economy of the people there; they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I gave to them.

The last of my wealth which none of my family members are aware about has been safely stored away in a storage firm I earlier told you about. I don't want to give too much detail now until I am sure of who you are and also that you are a willing and a trustworthy candidate to carry out my last wishes. Thank you for taking the time to read my long and sad email and do not feel sorry for me because I do not think one man can change the world, but I do know that one man can make a difference. Do have a wonderful day.

Yours faithfully,

Shane Curtis
