"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

My Name is Mr. Mike Zaffar, the secretary to Barrister. Hassan Dangaa your friend, If you can remember, I told you in that email that i sent to you I will like you to forward your Address/information where you want to recieve your Bank Draft. My boss told about you and that you will contact me for a Bank Draft Cheque $890.000.00USD he kept with me here in Benin Republic, once you ask of it i should try send the Cheque to you. Now I kept the Bank Draft with the Bank until your contact for security reasons.

Since you have written me for the Bank Draft, I will like to know whether you will come over to my Country here in Cotonou Benin Republic to have it by yourself or paid into the Bank and the fund be transferred through wire transfer into your Bank Account for it to be mailed through Courier Company Services.
