"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: PLEASE TREAT AS URGENT

From: Edward Taylor

My Dear,

PLEASE TREAT AS URGENT

I am sorry for any inconveniences this letter might
cause you. But be rest assured, as it comes with a
good intention. I am Edward Taylor a younger brother
to the former Liberian President Mr. Charles Taylor,
who is presently arrested and taken into custody.
Before his arrest and detention, he deposited some
amount of money in an European Bank through an
investment company in Sao Tome where he stayed.

When I visited him recently in his detention camp he
instructed me to arrange with you immediately and move
this money to your country for safety and investment
purposes. Be rest assured that you will be
rewarded and the investment will be under your
management if you can assist in this regard.

I arrived London yesterday this morning I met with the
bank manager where the money is deposited,
arrangements has been concluded on how to move the
money to you. Without any risk at all because I have
all the relevant documents regarding the fund.
