Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

• The following fake company names, fake addresses, non-existent institutions/documents or other details have appeared in scams before:
  • "microsoft lottery" (no such lottery exists)
• The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
  • "courier company" (Courier companies mentioned in 419 scams are always fake. They will have you send money to them, but won't deliver anything. )
• This email message is a 419 scam. Please see our 419 FAQ for more details on such scams.
  
• This email lists mobile phone numbers. Use of such numbers is typical for scams because they allow criminals to conceal their true location. They can receive calls in an Internet cafe from where they send you emails, while pretending to be in some office.

Subject: URGENT MAIL


Dear Ms Schulze,

I reveived your mail and that is while i sent you delivery courier of your winning parcel contact for you to contact them for your winning parcel.Your non-response to mail might be taken for a decline to your funds collection please update us about the position of things between you and the courier company for documentation purpose.

You are to proceed with the authorise courier company requirements in other for the then to send your winning parcel to you with immediate effect.Do contact me if you have made the necessary contact to the courier company for your parcel, so that we will know where to place your file and please let me know before two working days.Once again CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
