Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

. I have urgent and very confidential business proposition for you. A Bri=
tish Oil consultant/contractor with the Chinese Solid Minerals Corporatio=
n, Mr. Raymond Beck made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calen=
dar months, valued at Thirty Million US dollars in my branch. Upon maturi=
ty, I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but got no re=
ply. After a month, we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his=
contract employers, the Chinese Solid Minerals Corporation, that Mr. Ray=
mond Beck died in a plane crash along with his wife Mrs Doreen Beck in Eg=
ypt Air Flight 990, 1999 air crash (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/amer=
icas/502503.stm ). On further investigation, I discovered that he had die=
d without making a WILL and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fru=
itless. Upon further investigation, I found out that Mr. Raymond Beck did=
